On Monday night I was granted the opportunity to play ps3 on a larger than life movie theatre screen. The experience was phenomenal. Sadly, the only titles I had avaliable to play were Def Jam Icon and Dark Kingdom. My Resistance disc had a blemish and wouldn't read and I think I might have actually made it worse by attempting to use refinishing spray and one of those hand crank disc scratch fixers. Who would have thought there was a science to it?

We didn't use the actual projector that runs the movies. We used a smaller Viewsonic model that's typically used in business presentations. Due to network protections that monitor the activity of the theatre projectors we can seldom use them for other purposes besides that they were originally designated for.

The only downside of operating on the presentation projector was that we didn't get to experience the theatre's sound system. We ended up using a set of logitech desktop speakers for audio output and suprisingly it still sounded amazing.

If I can get my hands on a copy of the Orange Box then we'll probably be playing some Team Fortress next week. I can only hope.

Anyone else out there had the pleasure of playing in a theatre?

Check the resolution on the projector. I tried Projector gaming for awhile at my last job and it was alright, but the projector blew ass. If you're using a real HD level projector (with a resolution like 1600X1200) then that must've been fucking amazing. If it was something like 800X600, you need to smack your friends around till they get a better projector for your gaming needs.

DO NOT use a refinisher on a Blu-ray disc! Blu-ray uses a hard coating that is .1mm thick, as opposed to HD-DVD's softer .6mm thick coating.

So Blu-Ray is less prone to scratching, but once the protective is compromised, you can't use one of those handheld refinishers or you'll remove the protective layer completely. It's not like a CD, which has a thick soft coating which you can effectively buff.

Sorry to hear about your Resistance BRD.

: (

BTW I'm getting the Black Orange Box too, but sadly enough. I think I'm going to getting down in Unreal Tournament 3 Online & leave OjBox for SP Only...

( Besides there will be a ton more people online in UT3 than OjBox. Especially since it was released for 360 already. )
